Peak Addiction Recovery Center was founded by Dr. Charles J. Stephens and Mr. Michael J. McKelvey in 2006. A respected and service oriented Board of Directors was put in place to help give direction to Peak Addiction Recovery Center. This rehab facility now treats severe alcoholics and drug addicts - offering them physical as well as mental health treatment to help rid them of their psychological substance (and alcohol) abuse ailment.
Peak Addiction Recovery Center treats alcoholism and drug addiction as a clinical disease which can be treated if a number of progressive steps are taken, covering all aspects of the addition - from the physiological to the psychological.
A twelve step recovery plan is available at the Peak Addiction Recovery Center for in-patient physical and mental health treatment related to drug additions. This is closely supervised by medical, counseling and clinical staffs - which are available twenty four hours a day and closely monitor the progress of each patient.
An inclusive and non-discriminatory policy is in place at Peak Addiction Recovery Center, whereby those who cannot afford to fund their in-patient and out-patient physical and mental health treatment services at this rehab centre are offered these without a heavy financial burden - with funding from corporate donations whenever these are available to the Center.
Twelve clinical and counseling personnel are available at Peak Addiction Recovery Center, in addition to two medical personnel. Each time a new patient comes to Peak Addiction Recovery Center for physical and mental health treatment to rid themselves of their addiction, a full physical and psychological exam is conducted by Center staff to gauge the extent of damage done by drug addiction or alcoholism, and accordingly, a unique plan is developed to best enable the sufferer to beat his or her ailment.
The in-patient treatment available at Peak Addiction Recovery Center revolved around physical, social and mental health treatment.
The treatment plan at this rehab facility includes relapse prevention, behavioral therapy, exercise therapy, educational lectures, nutritional counseling, 12-step meetings, mirror imaging program, needs assessment and counseling, individual therapy, 12 step introduction classes, long-term needs assessment and counseling / post-treatment needs assessment, family group sessions, addiction education, post-treatment planning, experiential therapy, leadership group, community involvement/improvement, community re-entry planning and 'safe scenario' placement.
Once a patient successfully goes through all these classes, therapies and group sessions (all of which are aimed at physiological and mental health treatment) for one or two months (as deemed appropriate by medical and clinical counselors), he or she is then moved to the Peak Addiction Recovery Center's out-patient facility. There are two out-patient facilities owned by the Center. These are segregated male and female 'transitional' accommodations in downtown Colorado Springs. The Samaritan Inn houses out-patient males, and the Foundation Home offers sober transitional living for females.
The idea is to help former addicts and alcoholics gently settle back into a normal lifestyle after their physical and mental health treatment has been completed. Former addicts and alcoholics are usually under supervision at these transitional homes, and help in making their newfound 'sober' lifestyle part of their real life - enabling lifelong freedom from addiction and any associated relapses.
